SUMMER READING BEGINS SOON AT THE ASSUMPTION PUBLIC LIBRARY

The 2016 Summer Reading Program is fast approaching.  This free program is open to all readers in preschool through adult.  Registration for the “Read for the Win!” program will be June 14 -18.  If you are unable to register that week you may register at a time convenient for you, just stop by the library.  Participants will begin reading June 21 and will have five weeks to complete the required reading.    Preschool through grade 2 readers are required to read 20 juvenile easy books during the program.   Those not yet able to read or just learning to read may have the books read to them.  Readers in grades 3 and up need to read chapter books with the following requirements to complete the entire program:  grade 3—120 pages, grade 4—160 pages, grades 5 & up:  200 pages.  Adults must read one book, at least 200 pages in length, to complete the program.  Those completing the program will be eligible for prizes given away at its conclusion.  Students will also receive either free AR points or extra credit points for the 2016/17 school year.  Each week there will be fun activities for all the various age groups.  Activities will include Story Time, Craft Time, Game Time, Mystery Box, Candy Guess and Special Events.  Schedules of all the activities will be available when you register.  Don’t miss out on all the fun this year!  Come to the library and “Read for the Win!”
